MICHIGAN

According to a new study by UHY, the international accountancy network, air passenger taxes in the USA are amongst the highest in the world. USA imposes a levy of $23 on short haul flights and $28 on long haul flights leaving the country representing Transportation Taxes, Segment Taxes and 9/11 Security Fees. This results in the highest tax of any G7 economy. UHY says that around the world, the most expensive taxes are for long haul flights departing from a Russian airport, where unlike many other countries, airline tickets are subject to sales taxes.

Fifty-four percent of U.S. CEOs plan to complete an acquisition in 2015, according to PwC’s 18th annual CEO Survey. This marks the U.S. among the most active dealmakers when compared to the 29 percent of CEOs globally who responded similarly. As of May 31, 2015 M&A activity in the U.S. amounted to 4,654 deals worth $875 billion, according to data compiled by Thomson Reuters and analyzed by PwC. This represents a nine percent increase in deal value when compared with the 4,902 deals worth $805 billion recorded in the same period last year. … AccountantsWorld, a cloud-based software solutions for accountants for over 15 years, has announced their alliance with Abacus Worldwide and will now be offering a discount to Abacus members for their Power Practice System accounting software. … Gettry Marcus CPA hosted “Sips for Sunrise,” a wine tasting fundraising event, on behalf of the Sunrise Association. The event was held at the firm’s Woodbury headquarters on Thursday evening, June 11, 2015. The event attracted over 300 business leaders from Long Island and New York City. … On June 10, 2015 KPMG LLP was honored by the National Academy Foundation, a national leader in developing career themed public high schools.

OHIO
