KENTUCKY

Louisville-based Mountjoy Chilton Medley was recently named among the 2014 Best Public Accounting Firms for Leadership Equity by the American Society of Women Accountants and the American Woman's Society of Certified Public Accountants. The 2014 Accounting MOVE Project measures the number of women in leadership roles among CPA firms with at least 40 employees. At MCM, 38 percent of partner and principal positions are held by women, roughly double the 19 percent average of all firms that participated in the study.

MARYLAND

Ellin & Tucker, Baltimore, has retained Vitamin, the boutique branding and PR firm, as its exclusive public relations partner. Held on May 28 and 29 at the campus of Montclair State University, the annual New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants Scholars Institute gave 103 specially selected college students  -- who are also NJ residents –  a unique forum to help give them a competitive edge in the business world.  As part of its two-day residency program, Scholars Institute offered interactive programming that helped students identify their goals and provided them with the essential tools to reach them. In addition to supplementing classroom education, Scholars Institute gave students the opportunity to network and make valuable connections with CPAs, human resource personnel, NJSCPA staff and other students – professional resources for years to come

CBIZ Valuation Group LLC is up for the valuation Advisor Firm of the Year from ACGNY. … UHY LLP will support the flourishing technology startup industry in New York by sponsoring the Northside Innovation Conference on June 12 and 13 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. … According to the findings of the inaugural Deloitte M&A trends report 2014: A comprehensive look at the M&A market, the vast majority of the 2,500 U.S. companies and private equity firms polled anticipate a sustained or accelerated pace of mergers and acquisitions over the next two years. Building from the modest rebound of M&A activity in 2013 and the solid rise of deals in the first quarter of 2014, 84 percent of corporate executives surveyed expect a sustained or increased pace of M&A activity in the next 24 months.  Forty percent of the total corporate executive respondents forecast a pick-up in deal flow. In line with this forecast, the vast majority (89 percent) of private equity leaders surveyed are expecting average to high deal activity going forward.

 UTAH

Western Governors University has launched a new business master’s degree program, the Master of Science, Accounting. This new program, also referred to as the Master of Accounting (MAcc), provides students with the knowledge and skills they need for a successful career in accounting or auditing. Applications are being accepted now, and after completing the admissions and enrollment process, students may begin coursework on the first day of any month, beginning July 1.
