The American Institute of CPAs announced the 2011 recipients of three accounting curriculum awards, recognizing educators who demonstrate innovative teaching practices in one of three distinct educational levels. Priscilla Wightman, chair of the Department of Business Administration and Accounting at Hartwick College, Oneonta, N.Y., received the Bea Sanders/AICPA Innovation in Teaching Award for "$Chocolate$: Accounting as a First Year Seminar." Karen Tabak, associate professor of accounting and economics at Maryville University in St. Louis, Mo., received the 2011 George Krull/Grant Thornton Teaching Innovation Award for "From Pacioli to Picasso: Using Art to Enhance Critical Thinking in Accounting Capstone Course." And the winners of the 2011 Mark Chain/FSA Teaching Innovation Award were Terry Campbell, of the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University - Bloomington; Paul M. Ernst & Young has launched its Americas Tax Center, a network of professionals combining local technical knowledge with global business acumen and industry insights. The center will have core team of 40 senior tax professionals from E&Y firms across the Americas. Eric Solomon and Michael Mundaca, co-directors of the U.S. firm's National Tax Department, will co-lead the center.

 

OHIO
