Grant Thornton Names Denham as Philly Office Managing Partner

 

Sean Denham has been promoted to office managing partner for Grant Thornton LLP’s Philadelphia practice. Prior to his promotion Denham was the leader of the firm’s Northeast region Audit practice and as assistant office managing partner of operations and quality for the New York practice.

Denham succeeds Wayne Kaplan, who will continue to support the Philadelphia practice as partner-in-charge of Markets and Industries.

“Sean’s demonstrated leadership with keen focus on quality and client service will position our Philadelphia practice for continued growth,” Grant Thornton’s East region managing partner Rick Gebert said in a statement. “Wayne has led the office expansion of our audit, tax and advisory service lines to provide our dynamic clients with a broad complement of services, leading the office to be among our top five.”

Denham has also been a member of Grant Thornton’s National Professional Standards group, serving as the Northeast region national professional practice director. With more than 20 years of experience in public accounting, he specializes in SEC regulatory issues and Public Company Accounting Oversight Board matters. He has extensive experience in IPOs, mergers and acquisitions and other complex accounting issues.

Denham is a certified public accountant in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Virginia, and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, for which he serves on the XBRL Assurance Task Force. He was previously a member of the AICPA’s Assurance Services Executive Committee. He is also a member of the New Jersey Society of CPAs and the Virginia Society of CPAs. Denham received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Lehigh University and currently serves on Lehigh’s accounting advisory board.
