Guilmartin, DiPiro & Sokolowski Adds Rick Morin's Practice

Connecticut accounting firm Guilmartin, DiPiro & Sokolowski has merged in the practice of Rick Morin & Associates, adding a new partner and expanding the firm’s tax capabilities in the Middletown, Conn., market.

Morin has over 25 years of experience in public accounting, including more than 15 years with a large regional accounting and business consulting firm. Before joining GDS, he was a sole practitioner in Middletown. He specializes in taxation of individuals and small businesses, along with estate, trust and gift tax. He has a wide range of experience in tax planning, compliance and consulting, as well as succession planning, probate filings and estate settlement services. Morin has also helped to raise awareness of charitable planned giving and legacy planning opportunities in Middlesex County.

Morin is a member of several professional organizations including the American Institute of CPAs, the Connecticut Society of CPAs, and is serving as president of the Central Connecticut Business and Estate Planning Council. He is also an active member of the greater Middletown community. He is on the executive board and serves as treasurer of the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce and St. Luke’s Eldercare Services, as well as the Development Committee for Gilead Community Services, Inc. In addition, Morin is a member of Middlesex County Leave a Legacy Advisors and the Middlesex County United Way Audit Committee.

A resident of Portland, Conn., Morin holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Central Connecticut State University. He is married with two children.

GDS was founded in 1972 by Welles R. Guilmartin. The firm serves clients throughout Connecticut with a wide range of accounting and tax specialties.
