Happy Tax debuts Crypto Tax Academy

The tax prep chain Happy Tax has introduced Crypto Tax Academy, an education provider that offers courses to tax and accounting professionals about the complexities of accounting and taxation of digital currencies such as bitcoin and ethereum.

The courses offered at CryptoTaxAcademy.com aim to help practitioners add more clients and increase revenues in the rapidly expanding cryptocurrency trading and mining market. An estimated 15 million people in the U.S. own cryptocurrency, including more than 13 million users at Coinbase, a popular digital currency exchange whose users are now under scrutiny by the Internal Revenue Service.

The Crypto Tax Academy has courses and learning tracts, including 25 in-depth educational modules with more than 45 hours of content and live Q&As. Students who complete the advanced course modules will earn an Advanced Crypto Tax Expert (ACT-E) Designation, which was created by the academy.

Crypto Tax Academy’s instructors includes CPAs, Enrolled Agents, business growth experts, and a Harvard MBA. “Upwards of $10 billion of bitcoin and other digital assets are currently trading, each and every day,” said Crypto Tax Academy instructor and tax director L. Knox Wimberly in a statement. “Our team has prepared more cryptocurrency tax returns than anyone else, and we are pleased to share our knowledge, experience, and expertise with the wider community of practitioners.”

Crypto Tax Academy’s parent Happy Tax has made a specialty of preparing tax returns involving cryptocurrency. “With so few competitors that understand cryptocurrency taxation and so many clients in need of the service, those that complete our courses, learn the materials, and implement the strategies we teach are guaranteed to grow—and grow dramatically,” said CEO Mario Costanz in a statement. “We researched the competitive landscape of other education providers that offer cryptocurrency courses and saw just a handful of basic or high-level courses that didn’t teach how to actually do the work. During this past season, we were approached by many in the industry asking for help with crypto education, but we were experiencing record volume from our own clients at that time. However, we committed to creating the academy once tax season was over, and I’m extremely proud of our team and what we have put together.”

Crypto Tax Academy students receive access to a monthly business growth coaching call, a year-round email support hotline, and targeted marketing materials are included with paid courses. For more details, visit CryptoTaxAcademy.com.
