HintonBurdick Merges with Wilson

HintonBurdick CPAs & Advisors plans to merge with Wilson & Co. CPAs, uniting the two Utah firms.

The combined firms will go under the HintonBurdick name starting June 1. The 10 employees at Cedar City-based Wilson & Co., including president Jim Wilson, will be joining HintonBurdick. HintonBurdick currently has eight employees in its own Cedar City office in addition to four other offices. The main office is in St. George. With the latest merger, the firm will have close to 100 employees.

This is the second merger for HintonBurdick this year, after a merger with Kay Dix Monroe & Associates in Richfield that became effective at the beginning of the year. That’s when the firm began talking with Wilson about a combination.

“They came to us, and the reason they came to us was our business philosophy is very much the same,” said Van Kleinman, firm administrator at HintonBurdick. “They wanted to find a larger firm to associate with, so they could provide stability and expanded services to their clientele.”

Kleinman anticipates a seamless transition, in part because the two firms use similar software. The merger will also give HintonBurdick a much larger presence in the Iron County, Utah, market. “When those two offices come together, it will be significantly larger than any of the other CPA offices in the surrounding areas,” said Kleinman.
