Houston CPAs to Honor Rodriguez and Gonzalez

Roland Rodriguez and Linda Gonzalez have been named the honorary co-chairs of the Houston CPA Society's 2011 Scholarship Extravaganza, to be held February 18.

Rodriguez is managing principal and one of the founders of MFR PC (formerly Mir, Fox & Rodriguez PC), the largest Hispanic-owned CPA firm in the U.S. Gonzalez, his wife, has her own CPA firm, Linda Gonzalez PC.

"Roland Rodriguez encouraged me to get involved in the Houston CPA Society so that I could make a difference in the profession and in the Hispanic community," said David Acosta, current president of the Houston CPA Society. "In paying tribute to Roland and Linda, we recognize them as leadership role models in the community who have encouraged others to be leaders."

The event - an evening of dinner and dancing that will include a wine pull and a silent auction - has already raised over $248,000 in pledges and gifts, with over 330 CPAs and guests due to attend.

Proceeds from the event will go to scholarships for students majoring in accounting who intend to become CPAs. Underwriting sponsorship positions are still available, as are tickets for the event, which cost $150. For information, call (713) 622-7733 or visit www.HoustonCPA.org.
