Paul Vanek, managing member of Vanek Consultancy Group LLC, was named Outstanding CPA of the Year at the Houston CPA Society's recent Recognition Awards.
A member of the board of directors and treasurer-elect of the society, Vanek has also served as coordinating director of the Membership Development Committee, as a member of the Finance Task Force, and as chair of the Golf Classic Committee. Under his leadership, the charity event saw a 34 percent increase in funds raised for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Texas Gulf Coast and Louisiana. Vanek will chair the 2011 Golf Classic, which will take place on October 24.
Prior to launching Vanek Consultancy, Vanek was a director at a national consulting and search firm, and president of a start-up art-based products company.
He holds a BBA in Accounting from Texas A&M.
