CaseWare IDEA and Audimation Services plan to introduce the latest version of their IDEA audit software, including a new project overview feature that presents a graphical representation of the entire audit or investigation process.
The graphical overview shows the creation, deletion and modification of databases, and records all the actions performed. The feature also offers the ability to independently review workflow, including drill-down capabilities for additional history.
Other enhancements include visual script technology that allows users to build their own scripts without any programming. Visual scripts can be used to rerun standard analytical processes and build continuous monitoring applications. Users can also create their own custom functions and share them with others. New functions have been added to use the value of the next record in equations, use the value of the previous record, or access any field statistics and use them in an equation, such as comparing each transaction with the average value of all the transactions.
Version 8 of IDEA also includes a drag-and-drop document import feature. Users may individually select records they wish to extract in order to concentrate on specific areas for more in-depth review.
New usability features include alternating row colors, calendar pop-ups and the ability to sort field names by ascending, descending, and original order. Version 8 of IDEA is scheduled for release in March.
