IFAC Goes Multilingual

The International Federation of Accountants is internationalizing its Web site and turning it into a veritable United Nations by translating key parts of it into Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish.

Even though IFAC's official language is English, the organization wants to follow the lead of the UN by adopting its other official languages as well.

Accountants who speak these languages will be able to find multilingual information about IFAC, its structure, governance, membership, independent auditing, ethics, education and public sector accounting standards-setting boards.

IFAC has also translated the home pages for its resource centers for accountants in the industry and small and midsized practices. IFAC received help with the translations from several of its member groups around the world, including the Chinese Institute of CPAs and the Saudi Organization for CPAs.
