ACCOUNTANTSWORLD BRINGS ACCOUNTING RELIEF TO WEBAccountantsWorld has released its Accounting Relief software with Web 2.0 features that allow accountants to collaborate with small business clients.

The software includes client write-up, trial balance, financial reporting features, and a customized bookkeeping module for clients. Clients enter bookkeeping transactions and then, using the same data, accountants produce the financial statements and give clients a picture of their business finances. They log on through their accountant’s Web site and get access to the system. The Web-based system allows the accountant and the client to collaborate in real time without needing to transfer and synchronize files.

SERENIC RELEASES NEW NAVIGATOR

Serenic has updated its Serenic Navigator software with new features for managing financial grants. Version 5.0 of the software, which runs with Microsoft Dynamics NAV, includes Serenic AwardVision, a tracking and monitoring system that allows users to manage the lifecycle of a grant. The software also tracks compliance and monitoring information such as award terms and conditions, milestone activities, and funding restrictions.

The latest version of Navigator integrates more tightly with Microsoft products through Outlook synchronization and the use of Word and Excel style sheets. New payroll features include a Create Employee wizard, error trapping in calculations, and journal displays.

SAP TO BUY BUSINESS OBJECTS

Enterprise software giant SAP said that it would acquire business intelligence software developer Business Objects in a cash deal valued at about $6.8 billion.

SAP is offering 42 euros ($59.18) per share. The Business Objects board has agreed to the merger. The companies plan to offer enhanced business intelligence features with improved decision support and analytics. The deal will help SAP build its customer base with clients from Paris-based Business Objects.

The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2008. Business Objects will operate as a stand-alone entity within the SAP Group, with current CEO John Schwartz continuing as CEO of the unit.
