Iron Accountant Takes Second in Ironman World Championship

Haley Chura, a senior associate at Atlanta-based CPA firm Bennett Thrasher PC, placed second in her division in the Ironman World Championship in early October.

The competition, which includes a 2.4-mile ocean swim, a 112-mile bike race, and a full marathon, is the premier event of its kind, with most of the 1,800 competitors earning slots by completing other Ironman events. Chura qualified for the competition by winning her division at the Louisville Ironman in Kentucky in August, where she posted the fastest time of the day.

At the World Championship, Chura was first in her division, Female 25-29, in the ocean swim, and fourth female overall with a time of 53.33; first in her division in the biking competion, with a time of 5 hours and 22 minutes; and second in her division in the marathon, which she completed in just under four hours.

Altogether, Chura completed the entire event in 10 hours and 23 minutes. This is the third consecutive Ironman Championship she has participated in.
