IRS Scrutinizes Former Planned Parenthood Clinics

The Internal Revenue Service’s Criminal Investigation division is reportedly examining the books of the former Planned Parenthood Golden Gate, which lost its affiliation with the national Planned Parenthood last Friday amid questions about the group’s financial administration.

The group, which is now called Golden Gate Community Health, has reportedly hired forensic accountants to help go over its financial records. The IRS investigation came in response to a tip from a former employee who filed a complaint with the IRS, according to The New York Times.

The group operates seven clinics in five counties within the San Francisco Bay Area.

The group’s interim chief executive said the forensic accounting firm had been hired in March, and so far had not discovered any financial improprieties, but had uncovered some inaccurate information in the group’s financial records.
