The Internal Revenue Services Criminal Investigation division is reportedly examining the books of the former Planned Parenthood Golden Gate, which lost its affiliation with the national Planned Parenthood last Friday amid questions about the groups financial administration.
The group, which is now called Golden Gate Community Health, has reportedly hired forensic accountants to help go over its financial records. The IRS investigation came in response to a tip from a former employee who filed a complaint with the IRS, according to
The group operates seven clinics in five counties within the San Francisco Bay Area.
The groups interim chief executive said the forensic accounting firm had been hired in March, and so far had not discovered any financial improprieties, but had uncovered some inaccurate information in the groups financial records.
