IRS Updates Entertainment Audit Technique Guide

The Internal Revenue Service has recently updated its Entertainment Audit Technique Guide to help tax professionals when reporting various items related to the entertainment industry.

The guide includes examination techniques used by IRS examiners who may be auditing taxpayers in the entertainment industry, along with common and unique industry issues, business practices, industry terminology and other information.

The purpose of the guide is to provide an overview of the activities encountered in examinations of individuals in the entertainment industry, to familiarize examiners with issues and terminology pertinent to individuals in the entertainment industry, and to assist examiners with their examinations by providing audit techniques. However, it can also be useful for tax professionals who have clients in the entertainment industry or who work for companies in the industry.
