Jacobson and Wilcox Spin off Firm

Kirk Jacobson and Chris Wilcox, two of the partners in the Las Vegas-based accounting and financial consulting firm Johnson Jacobson Wilcox, which Accounting Today ranked No. 1 on the 2014 list of Best Firms to Work For, have created their own firm, JW Advisors.

Effective Jan. 1, longtime partners Jacobson and Wilcox will own and operate the new firm, JW Advisors, joined by more than half of the current JJW team members. Together, the partners said they plan to offer all of the same high-quality professional services as their old firm and more.

Through the rest of 2014, Jacobson, Wilcox and their team plan to continue serving clients as part of JJW. Starting Jan. 1, they will work with existing and new clients as JW Advisors.

“Chris and I made this business decision because we’re confident it’s in the best interests of our clients, our employees and our company,” Jacobson said in a statement. “With the launch of JW Advisors, we look forward to putting more of our own business strategies and philosophies into even greater practice to benefit our clients and employees.”

The new firm will specialize in business financial consulting, litigation support and forensic accounting, assurance and tax services. In addition, they will help owners preparing to exit their business to develop and implement effective transition strategies. They will also continue to serve automobile dealerships and businesses in other specialized fields.

This transition has been an amicable process, Jacobson emphasized, noting that the new firm will continue to have a positive relationship with his longtime friends and former partners Gary Johnson, Laurie Johnson and Tanya LaCosse at what will become their separate firm. Through at least the end of 2015, he said JW Advisors would continue to share office space with his former partners.
