KPMG and Sovos team up on VAT reporting

Big Four firm KPMG and tax software provider Sovos announced a new strategic partnership to expand VAT reporting and compliance offerings to clients.

The partnership gives clients a single cloud-based platform solution for VAT compliance and reporting across multiple countries. By combining KPMG's tax expertise with Sovos' platform, the two organizations hope to assist clients in designing and deploying solutions to address continuous transaction controls e-invoicing, as well as real-time reporting mandates.

“Increasingly, continuous transaction controls push businesses towards digital transformation,” said Niren Saldanha, a tax partner with KPMG, in a statement. “Our team has extensive knowledge of implementing Sovos’ software within existing ERP and legacy systems. By setting up data reporting within the ERP system, we can help tax authorities receive the right information at the right time to keep our clients’ compliance efforts running smoothly. With Sovos, we’ll be able to help them stay ahead of tax compliance regulations today, and in the future.”

This is the latest in a series of recent announcements regarding new strategic alliances with large firms. Just this week, fellow Big Four firm Deloitte announced a partnership with TaxBit to assist clients with digital asset transactions (see full story). Meanwhile, KPMG entered into a partnership last month with supply chain management platform E2Open and cloud software provider Intapp, while global accountancy network PKF International announced Xero as its preferred cloud solution (see full story).
