Tennessee-based accounting firm KraftCPAs has created a new affiliate company that will specialize in health care consulting services as Congress prepares legislation to overhaul the health insurance industry.
Member-in-charge Scott R. Mertie will lead the new affiliate, Kraft Health Consulting LLC. The consultancy will provide reimbursement and advisory services to hospitals, nursing homes and other types of health care providers. Services will include preparing and reviewing Medicare and Medicaid cost reports, as well as assisting with Medicare audits, amendments and appeals.
Mertie recently joined Kraft from Horne LLP, and has extensive knowledge of specific reimbursement issues for in-patient providers, according to the firm. He has nearly 20 years of reimbursement, operational and financial experience in the health care industry. He consults on various reimbursement issues, and prepares and reviews Medicare and Medicaid cost reports for health care clients throughout the U.S. Mertie has assisted clients with matters such as Medicare bad debts, disproportionate share adjustments and wage indexing.
Kelly L. Miller has also joined Kraft Healthcare Consulting as a senior health care consultant. She has worked closely with Mertie for the past two years at Horne. Miller has over five years experience in the health care industry, including Medicare reimbursement, physician practice administration and hospital administration.
