The contest launched this month and received 23 entries on Accounting Today’s Facebook page. To view the entries and vote on them, visit http://bit.ly/AcctVote.

The contest aims to give accountants a chance to dispel the myth that CPAs are boring (see I Made This Bet for You).

In the new "Accountant of the Month" contest, sponsored by Thomson Reuters, Accounting Today readers and editors will pick a CPA every month who does the best job of showing the world that accountants can be just as outgoing and fun as other professionals—and often more so. The monthly award will go to an accountant who best demonstrates the passion and excitement CPAs bring to their profession and to their lives.

To enter the contest, accountants must submit a brief paragraph describing who they are and what they do, detailing the ways in which they might "break the mold" of the typical accountant. Submissions must include a photo that helps make their case. Submissions are accepted via the Accountant of the Month Contest on Accounting Today's Facebook page (www.Facebook.com/AccountingToday). Submissions for next month’s contest begin on July 2.

Each month, five finalists will be chosen based on votes from Accounting Today's Facebook fans. The Accounting Today editorial team will review the finalists' entries and choose one as the winner. Accountant of the Month winners will receive a free registration to Accounting Today's 3rd Annual Growth & Profitability Summit, which will be held this year in Boca Raton, Fla., Oct. 28 to 30, and given Accounting Today T-shirts, bags and flash drives. Winners also will be featured on AccountingToday.com, in Accounting Today magazine, and honored on Accounting Today's Facebook page and in its LinkedIn group.

In addition, a caricature of each winner will be made in the same style used to create the Accounting Today editorial team illustration that appears on the brand's Facebook page.
