CALIFORNIA

Susan Tulis merges with Sweeney Kovar

Details: Susan Tulis has merged her Alamo, Calif.-based CPA practice into Sweeney Kovar LLP. Terms of the deal were undisclosed.

"The firms agreed to merge to provide additional services and resources to our clients. Both firms have similar philosophy on client service," partner Joe Kovar stated in an e-mail to Accounting Today.

Tulis, who has more than 30 years of experience in the accounting profession, operated her firm as a sole proprietor along with two employees. She will continue her career at Sweeney as a director, and the two employees will also join Sweeney's staff.

Sweeney, which currently has two partners, increased its total staff from 17 to 20 employees with the addition of Tulis.

 

MARYLAND

Calibre CPA Group and Levinson Simon Hein & Bilkey merge

Details: Calibre CPA Group PLLC has merged Levinson Simon Hein & Bilkey PC into its practice. Financial terms of the deal were undisclosed.

Transition Advisors LLC advised both firms on the merger.

 

NEW HAMPSHIRE

DiBenedetto & Co. pairs up with Olbricht Storniolo Group

Details: DiBenedetto & Company PA has merged its practice with the Hampstead, N.H.-based firm of Olbricht Storniolo Group LLC CPAs and Business Advisors.

Glenn DiBenedetto, Charles Santamaria and Eileen Vidal will join Joel Olbricht, Frank Storniolo and David Kiley as principals and will operate as Olbricht Storniolo Group.

"Combining our firms and adding the talent of DiBenedetto & Co. helps us create better service teams for both of our growing practices," Olbricht said in a statement.

 

SOUTH CAROLINA

Johnstone Graydon & Thompson and Scott and Co. plan to merge

Details: Johnstone, Graydon & Thompson CPAs PA of Greenville, S.C., and Scott and Co. LLC, of Columbia, have announced their plans to merge. Deal terms were undisclosed, but both of the firms' management teams voted to approve the merger. The deal is expected to close on June 30, 2013.

The newly combined firm will operate under the Scott and Co. brand, and all members of each firm's Greenville offices will combine in a single Greenville location.
