Michael Balter has joined Marcum LLP as partner-in-charge of the firm’s Florida Region. He additionally serves as partner-in-charge of Assurance Services for the Florida Region and also has joined the firm’s executive committee.

“As one of the top accounting firms in South Florida, Marcum is already well recognized for its tax consulting, audit services, and litigation support practices. I am privileged and excited to help lead the next generation of growth for Marcum in this region,” Balter said in a statement.

Balter will oversee tax, assurance and advisory services to all Marcum clients in Florida and will also be responsible for operations and growth of the Firm’s Florida business. Marcum currently has offices in Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, Florida.

Balter assumes his Marcum leadership roles from Cecelia Garber and Kim Lamplough, who remain partners of the Firm and will continue to serve their advisory and assurance clients, respectively.

Balter has over 25 years of client service experience and has worked extensively in the construction, manufacturing, distribution and service industries.

Balter holds an MBA from Florida Atlantic University and a BS in Accounting from the University of Florida, where he serves on the Accounting Advisory Board. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Association for Corporate Growth – South Florida. He is also a Board member and Past President of the Construction Financial Management Association and is a committee member of the FICPA Construction Conference.

Balter authored the Financial Management section of The Contractors Manual for Associated Builders and Contractors and recently completed his term as Financial Counsel for the South Florida Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America. He also is a regular contributor to industry journals including Construction Focus, Construction Ink, and Building Florida.
