Marcum Taps Wilson as Partner-in-Charge of California Region

Philip Wilson has been named partner-in-charge of Marcum LLP’s California region. In the newly created role, Wilson is responsible for overseeing all client services and business operations in Marcum’s California offices and for the firm’s business development and regional expansion statewide. He additionally continues as National Practice Leader of the firm’s tax controversy group.

Marcum currently has offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Irvine, California. Wilson is based in Irvine and previously served as partner-in-charge of the Southern California region.

Wilson joined Marcum in July 2013 following the merger of WilsonMorgan LLC into the firm.
Hugh Tama, previously partner-in-charge of Marcum’s Northern California region, remains Partner-in-Charge of the San Francisco office. He will continue servicing his clients, specializing in automotive dealer advertising groups.

Wilson has over 25 years of CPA and Business Advisory experience including service as an IRS Revenue Agent. He focuses on developing and implementing tax controversy resolution strategies for individual and commercial clients. Mr. Wilson also has substantial experience in tax structuring for commercial and residential real estate developers. As a founding partner at WilsonMorgan, Wilson oversaw all of the Firm’s tax compliance, tax consulting and tax controversy engagements.

Wilson holds a Masters in Business Taxation from Golden Gate University. He received his BSBA degree in Accounting from Western Carolina University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.
