MarksNelson Acquires Marsh & Company

Accounting and consulting firm MarksNelson has acquired Overland Park, Kan.-based Marsh & Company.

Marsh & Company employees will be relocated to MarksNelson’s Kansas City, Mo., headquarters, starting Jan. 1, 2016.

The deal represents MarksNelson’s second acquisition this year. In July, MarksNelson acquired St. Louis-based Community EDGE firm and launched its Location Strategies Practice, which encompasses a wide variety of services, including business location, economic development and credits and incentives strategies.

The latest expansion will enable MarksNelson to expand its tax credit consulting and auditing services to real estate professionals, developers and historic preservationists in the region. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. MarksNelson ranked 20th for the Midwest region in Accounting Today's 2015 Regional Leaders list, with $13.8 million in annual revenue.

“This acquisition is right on target with our strategic growth plan,” said MarksNelson managing member Mark Radetic in a statement. “We are eager to welcome our new colleagues as we join forces to provide our clients a broader level of expertise to realize their business and financial goals. With our expanded range of services, we are able to give our clients more resources while providing assurance they’ll still be working with the same people and receiving the same high level of service they’ve always received.”

Marsh & Company specializes in tax credit consulting and audit services for the real estate industry.

“Combining our team’s extensive experience in working with developers and owners of historical and low-income housing tax credit properties, and MarksNelson’s significant state and local tax and real estate expertise, we’re able to provide current and future clients with an unparalleled level of service in the region,” said managing partner Michael Marsh, who will become a member at MarksNelson, along with Christine Johnston.
