Microsoft Enhances Solomon

Fargo, N.D. (May 28, 2003) -- Microsoft Business Solutions has released a new version of its Solomon accounting/enterprise software, which includes the vendor's new professional services automation technology and enhanced project accounting capabilities.

The vendor said it designed Solomon 5.5. specifically for small and midsize businesses in business services, management and engineering services, social services, special trades contracting, general contractors, and wholesale trade. In addition to its enhanced built-in capabilities, the software is designed to integrate with Microsoft's Project 2002 software and its "Retail Management System" point of sale software.

"Solomon 5.5 empowers our customers to take full advantage of Microsoft technology's capabilities to integrate critical business systems and applications," said Eric de Jager, group product manager for Professional Services Automation and Solomon at Microsoft Business Solutions. "When systems are integrated and applications communicate with one another, managers have better access to important information within the tools they use most often.

Microsoft said "a typical three-user" Solomon 5.5 package costs about $12,700. The product, like all of Microsoft's accounting and enterprise products, is sold through a reseller channel that includes accounting professionals.
