Microsoft Ships Latest Dynamics AX

Microsoft has released Dynamics AX 2009, with upgraded features for compliance and multi-site organizations.

The latest version of the enterprise resource planning software can run multiple legal entities from a central location and provide a single view of financial and supply chain information around the world.

A compliance center provides a central view of internal controls, key performance indicators and other compliance data. Embedded workflows automate business processes such as expense management and enforce standard operating procedures across a company. Country-specific functions help companies comply with local regulations in 36 countries and 40 languages. One user can work in Chinese while another works in English. The compliance center can also record specific talks and build a Word document with process descriptions to provide standard documentation for compliance documents.

A Role Center prioritizes tasks and information for particular business functions. Self-service business intelligence tools deliver pre-configured key performance indicators and reports for those roles. "Think of an accounts receivable clerk or a CFO as a specific role," said Dynamics AX 2009 director of product management Kees Hertogh.

The user interface has the look and feel of Microsoft Office. Dynamics AX 2009 also integrates with other Microsoft products, including SQL Server 2008, Windows Essential Business Server 2008, Office Project Server, Office PerformancePoint Server and Office Communicator. Pricing varies according to partner, number of users and other factors. For more information, visit www.microsoft.com/dynamics/ax.
