Moore Stephens Doeren Mayhew has merged with Emerson & Partner U.S. Tax GmbH, a firm based in Zurich, Switzerland, effective Jan. 1, 2017.
As part of the deal, the tax firm's owner, Clinton L. Emerson, will join Moore Stephens Doeren Mayhew as a director in the International Services Group and continue as managing director of the Zurich office. Barbara M. Emerson will continue to be director of finance, HR and administration.
The deal adds 10 professionals to Moore Stephens Doeren Mayhew. For the remainder of this year, Emerson & Partner U.S. Tax GmbH will be known as Moore Stephens Emerson GmbH.
Detroit-based Moore Stephens Doeren Mayhew plans to expand to other parts of Europe beyond Switzerland. “Our merger with Emerson & Partner U.S. Tax GmbH is the first step in expanding the international footprint of our firm and enables us to better serve our clients,” Moore Stephens Doeren Mayhew director Joseph A. Amine in a statement. “Clint Emerson and Barbara Emerson will provide the key leadership roles we need to develop and expand our presence in Europe.”
The firm is part of the Moore Stephens North America network, which is part of the Moore Stephens International network of accounting firms. The addition of the Zurich firm will expand its foothold in Europe.
“For the past 10 years, we have been quietly working here in Zurich providing our clients around the world with the peace of mind that comes with satisfying their U.S. tax compliance requirements,” said Clint Emerson in a statement. “Now, as a member of the Moore Stephens network, we are even more capable. We look forward to utilizing our new resources to provide our existing and future clients with even better service.”
