Moss Adams to Buy Grant Thornton’s N.M. Practice

Moss Adams plans to acquire Grant Thornton’s Albuquerque practice on July 31, 2010, after Grant Thornton’s senior leadership decided to exit the New Mexico market.

Grant Thornton’s office managing partner Kim Nunley will join Moss Adams as a partner, along with many of the client service staff and employees. Moss Adams’ Albuquerque office managing partner, Wayne Brown, will continue to provide local leadership.

“I have known and respected Kim for many years and look forward to working closely with her. She is highly regarded within the profession and the Albuquerque community,” he said in a statement.

The acquisition demonstrates Moss Adams’ commitment to the Southwest and overall firm growth. “Moss Adams is focused on growth and the Grant Thornton practice blends well with our Albuquerque industry group specialization in areas such as financial institutions, credit unions, employee benefit plans, technology/life sciences, and manufacturing companies,” said Moss Adams president Chris Schmidt.

Moss Adams is the largest accounting and consulting firm in New Mexico and ranked 11th on Accounting Today’s 2010 list of the Top 100 Firms, with $323 million in revenue. With more than 1,700 employees and 230 partners, the firm operates 21 offices in Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona and New Mexico.
