Neal Gerber Eisenberg Taps Shamberg as Partner

Jeffrey Shamberg has joined Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg LLP as partner in the firm’s taxation practice.

Shamberg brings nearly two decades of experience serving clients in a range of international, federal, and state and local tax planning and controversy matters.

Prior to joining the firm, Shamberg worked at Barack Ferrazzano Kirschbaum & Nagelberg LLP.

“Jeff’s arrival to the firm bolsters our ability to provide clients with the depth of service expected from a large law firm, but with the flexibility and responsiveness of a mid-sized firm,” Scott Bakal, co-chair of Neal Gerber Eisenberg’s nationally-recognized Taxation practice said in a statement. “Jeff is well-regarded for his extensive work in tax planning and controversy, and his experience allows us to further partner with clients, not only as legal counsel, but also as business advocates. We are pleased to welcome him to the firm.”

Shamberg focuses his practice on advising real estate investment trusts, partnerships, corporations and individuals regarding complex tax issues arising in connection with business formations and reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, equity offerings, dispositions, joint ventures, loan transactions and work-outs. He also represents business entities and individuals in tax controversy matters before the Internal Revenue Service and the Illinois Department of Revenue.

“Neal Gerber Eisenberg’s approach to client service and its deep bench of talented tax practitioners are what attracted me to the firm,” added Shamberg. “I am excited about serving the firm’s diverse client base and joining the team-oriented culture that Neal Gerber Eisenberg offers.”

Shamberg earned his law degree from Northwestern University School of Law, and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is also a certified public accountant.
