Net@Work Buys Fitzgerald Group

Net@Work, a major New York-based Sage reseller and document management service provider, has acquired Boston-based MAS 90 and MAS 200 reseller Fitzgerald Group, giving the firm a much larger Northeast presence and over 700 new customers.

Combined with several acquisitions in recent years, including Connecticut-based Apptech Consulting, the move further consolidates Net@Work’s presence across New England.

The purchase, nearly four years in the making, adds 12 staff members and over 700 customers to Net@Work, while giving Fitzgerald access to more solutions for its customers than it could offer previously, according to Fitzgerald founder Michael Fitzgerald.

“We do a great job with MAS 90 and 200, but now we can offer CRM and document management. It’s amazing the conversations we can now have,” said Fitzgerald. “We had been using Net@Work for things that were outside of our core, brought them in on projects or even have them take over with a bit of our help. Cultures are similar, [and] focus on service of customer [is] similar.”

Fitzgerald will remain general manager of the Boston office, while Net@Work will have some staff from its Connecticut office work at the new Boston location, according to Net@Work co-founder Alex Solomon. He noted that other undisclosed parties had courted Fitzgerald Group in recent history and was pleased the two firms could finally come to a deal.

“This is a company that is a President’s Circle winner [for Sage] over the last few years; this is the top of the channel,” said Solomon. “We are bringing in a very talented team. Fitzgerald stands out in exemplary customer service and strong sales numbers. Our objective is to provide that and they do it so well already.”

Net@Work is still looking for other strategic acquisitions in the area and will continue to grow its business in this way “where it makes sense,” Solomon added.
