Accounting practice management software provider
The solution features custom questionnaires, guided by AI, which help with assessing client fit, tax organizers or client feedback. Forms can be tailored for different use cases. Since accountants likely already have a lot of the information they need, the software also features pre-fill capacities that let clients respond with AI suggestions and confirm or change answers as necessary.
Users can also create custom document requests lists that can be sent directly to their clients, requesting exactly what they need and having it uploaded in one place without the need for back-and-forth emails about missing files. These and other files can be selected for AI-powered renaming and classification based on naming conventions set by the user. Finally, there are data-driven insights that track client progress, blockers and billable status, all using a single login.

"Canopy is already the system of record for tax and accounting firms, centralizing client data, documents, and daily workflows," said Hanna Bjornn, vice president of product at Canopy. "With Smart Intake, we've added AI-powered automation that boosts completion rates and eliminates tedious back-and-forth. Our native solution now collects, organizes and routes data seamlessly across the platform. Client information is prefilled for easy review and confirmation, while responses sync instantly to CRM records and checklists update dynamically, reducing manual work, giving significant time back to the team, and freeing them to focus on delivering real value. In tax prep scenarios, firms can save as much as 20 minutes per client, which adds up quickly when managing hundreds or thousands of returns."
Because Smart Intake is native to Canopy, current users can go live with minimum setup. Versus a per-return charge, Canopy offers a bundled license model instead.
