New MP and COO at McLean, Koehler, Sparks & Hammond

The partners and principals of McLean, Koehler, Sparks & Hammond elected a new managing partner, Kathy Davis, and a new chief operating officer, Paul Steckel, at a meeting in December.

Previously, the firm had been run by an executive committee, which both Davis and Steckel participated in, but the firm decided to move to the MP structure to be more flexible and efficient.

Davis joined the firm in 1990 as a staff accountant and rose to become one of the leaders of the firm's tax practice. She received a BS in accounting from George Mason University, and is currently a member of the Frederick Rotary Club and chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Community Foundation of Frederick County.

Steckel is also a leader in the firm's tax practice. A graduate of Gettysburg College, he joined the partnership in 1996.

Former MP and Executive Committee member Terry Weller said, ''Kathy brings considerable experience and management expertise to the role.  I am confident that her drive and ambition for the firm will deliver our business strategy and continue our mission of delivering a high level of quality care and service to our clients.''

He continued, "In addition, Paul has made a formidable contribution to the firm over the past years, and has been integral to the firm's progress. In his new role as COO, he will continue to be a great asset in regulating our multidisciplinary teams and specialists to guarantee harmonized quality services to our clients in their respective fields."
