New York Firms Team Up

Two New York firms are combining forces, with Tarrytown-based Platt, Barth, Elson & Steinman P.C. merging with New York City-based Marks Paneth & Shron LLP.

The two firms will operate under the name of Marks Paneth & Shron but will maintain Platt's old office in Tarrytown. Both firms have similar backgrounds, specializing in high net worth individuals and their families, along with closely held businesses, according to MP&S spokesperson Carolyn Moses. The merger gives MP&S a presence in the Westchester County area.

With the merger, MP&S has also acquired two new partners, Paul Elson and Marshall Steinman, bringing the total partner count up to 58. The combined firms have a total of 450 staff members.

In its annual ranking of the top 100 firms, Accounting Today lists MPS as no. 28, with revenues of $74 million. MPS is ranked as the 15th largest accounting firm in the New York area and one of the top five fastest growing, according to Crain's New York Business.
