Nine CPA Firms Make List of Best Companies for Working Moms

Working Mother released its list of the 100 Best Companies, and a number of large accounting firms ranked within the Top Ten.

Accounting firms made up fully half of the Top 10, including Big Four Firms Deloitte LLP, Ernst & Young LLP, KPMG and PwC, and Top Six firm Grant Thornton.

BDO, McGladrey, Moss Adams and Rothstein Kass -- all of which rank in Accounting Today’s Top 25 -- also made the list of best companies for working moms.

Working Mother tallied responses to more than 500 questions from each applicant about workforce representation, child care and flexibility programs, as well as leave policies, among other things. The assessment also touched on availability, and usage and tracking of programs, as well as the accountability of managers who oversee them.

According to the application process, the questionnaire paid particular attention to child care, flexible scheduling options and advancement programs. Candidates then received feedback showing how they compared with other contenders, which were kept private.

Businesses that made the list will be honored at the Working Mother 100 Best Companies Awards Dinner on Oct. 10, 2012, at the Marriott Marquis in New York.

The complete list of companies that made the list is available at workingmother.com/best-company-list.

Note: An earlier version of this story, as noted in the comment below, incorrectly gave rankings for some of the firms; the Working Mother list is unranked.
