DMJ adds Miller & Co.

Greensboro, North Carolina-based DMJ & Co. PLLC is adding Wilmington-based Miller & Co. CPAs PC, effective November 1, giving the firm a presence in the southeastern part of the state, and a fourth office.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Miller & Co.’s managing shareholder, Gregory Miller, will become partner-in-charge of DMJ’s Wilmington office, while stockholders Sandra Miller and Rebecca Rhodes will join DMJ as managers. The combined firm will have 85 people, including 11 partners.

Founded in 1993, Miller & Co. serves small businesses and individuals. The combination will add health care consulting and wealth management to its current service lines in tax, accounting and consulting.

“When your name is on the door, as it has been for the past 25-plus years, you take seriously your commitment to your clients and to the CPA profession,” Gregory Miller said in statement. “We may change our name, but we will not change how we serve our clients and treat our business partners. DMJ is a client-centered firm that shares our values, our commitment to quality, and our promise to our community.”

The two firms have a long-standing relationship; in fact, DMJ sponsored Miller & Co. for membership in the CPA firm association CPAmerica.

“We recognize the importance of strategic growth that anticipates our clients’ needs, oftentimes from formation to succession and through very personal milestones,” DMJ managing partner Mike Gillis said in a statement. “We are excited to expand to the Coastal Cape Fear region and continue the legacy and commitment of the Miller & Co. team.”
