ParenteBeard Appoints Campbell as Director

 

Sophie Campbell returns to ParenteBeard’s clinical advisory services as director.

With over 35 years of operational and consulting experience in the healthcare industry, Campbell brings a background with a focus in long-term care and experience in acute care and acute rehabilitation. She previously served as ParenteBeard’s director, clinical advisory services for more than 12 years before taking a position with University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Senior Communities in late 2012.

For the last two years, Campbell served as UPMC Senior Communities director of quality, education and compliance, as well as compliance and privacy officer. Her career also includes roles as director of nursing, staff development coordinator, Registered Nurse Assessment Coordinator and restorative nursing coordinator at for-profit and nonprofit facilities.

Her expertise includes operational/clinical areas, including staff development, Minimum Data Set accuracy and training, documentation compliance, management training and monitoring, Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act survey preparation and response, development of performance improvement and clinical compliance programs, preparation of responses to Recovery Audit Contractor audit requests and findings and development of Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement programs.

Campbell also has experience in admissions management, care planning, restorative nursing program development and management, infection control program management, short-term rehabilitation unit conversions and hospital based Transitional Care Units. She has also assisted with Electronic Health Record implementations.

A certified rehabilitation nurse and resident assessment coordinator-certified, Campbell is a member of the American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordination, Association of Rehabilitation Nurses and Pennsylvania Association of Directors of Nursing Administration.

Campbell’s operational, regulatory, nursing leadership and management expertise has been sought by national and state associations for conferences and leading industry publications such as Post Acute Sourcebook and Provider Magazine. She has also taught in the Pennsylvania State University’s nursing continuing education program.

Campbell holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
