PCAOB to Hold Boston Forum on Small Business Audits

The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board will host a forum in Boston to bring information to the small business community.

The forum on auditing in the small business environment is a program designed to help registered accounting firms and public companies working in the small business community learn more about the work of the board. The forum will focus specifically on the PCAOB inspections process and the impact of new auditing standards.

The two-day program will be held at the Hyatt Harborside Hotel on Oct. 20 and 21, and be hosted by board member Bill Gradison, a former Ohio Congressman with a background in health care, as well as staff from the offices of inspections and standards-setting. The first day will focus on educating smaller registered accounting firms about the board's work, and attendees will be able to earn continuing education credits. The second day will concentrate on PCAOB issues impacting audit committees at smaller public companies.

Auditors from registered accounting firms with fewer than 20 issuer clients and the members of audit committees of smaller public companies are encouraged to register. Pre-registration is required and more information is available at www.pcaobus.org.
