Ahlers will serve as a strategic counselor for businesses seeking highly technical corporate tax planning services, including advice related to transactions, restructuring, post-acquisition compliance, bankruptcy tax analysis and more. Prior to joining Moss Adams, Ahlers served as a tax partner at Pepper Hamilton LLP, where she launched the corporate tax group in the Washington, D.C. office. John J. Cross has been named director of the Office of Municipal Securities of the Securities and Exchange Commission. Cross previously served as the associate tax legislative counsel in the Office of Tax Policy at the U.S. Treasury Department, where he has was responsible for legislative, regulatory and budgetary tax matters affecting municipal bonds. Robert E. Plaze will retire as deputy director of the SEC’s Division of Investment Management at the end of August. Plaze spent the last 30 years with the SEC. …Todd McArthur was appointed M&A tax principal in PwC US’s Washington National Tax Services practice, where he will focus on strategic joint ventures, domestic and international partnership structuring, and alternative investment matters. Prior to PwC, he served as a partner in the global private equity and tax group at Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP.
