As a member of the board, Kuhn will serve a three-year term, helping drive the organization’s mission by raising awareness of the organization and cultivating donor support.

MASSACHUSETTS

Halpern has approximately thirty years of experience specializing in tax and financial advice specific to professional athletes, entertainers and high net worth individuals, including proper reporting of income, maximizing allowable deductions and other issues related to multi-state, estate and gift taxation.

NEW JERSEY

Emily Chen has joined PEF Services LLC as a fund accounting manager. Prior to PEF, Chen was the vice president of Portfolio Accounting at Citi Hedge Fund Services, where she supervised a team of accountants and played an instrumental role in the administration of several hedge funds by overseeing the accounting process. Prior to that, Chen worked as a Fund Accountant at Derivatives Portfolio Management, where she developed her accounting and fund administration expertise.

NEW YORK

John Iacobellis has joined BDO USA as an assurance partner in the Financial Services practice in the New York City office. He has over 13 years of experience in the financial services industry and an extensive background in providing assurance services to broker-dealers

OHIO

Kenneth Stefanski has been appointed to Walthall CPAs management committee for a three-year term. The committee consists of three partners who lead the firm’s strategy and growth. Stefanski’s appointment completes Walthall’s management committee that includes Richard T. Lash, managing partner, and Richard H. Cause, partner.

PENNSYLVANIA

Susan Kirsch has been named the chairperson of Schneider Downs’ tax advisory services practice. Kirsch will transition to this position with the assistance of Paul Matvey, who has served as tax chair for the past 17 years.

TEXAS

Marlon Williams has been tapped as the leader of McConnell & Jones LLP’s nonprofit and governmental audit practice and partner in charge of the firm’s Dallas office. In this role, Williams will promote and direct MJ’s strategic initiatives related to the practice growth across the firm’s various niches in the North Texas market such as governmental entities, nonprofit organizations, privately owned and publicly-held companies, as well as employee benefit plans. He will also have responsibility for all management and administrative matters related to oversight of the Dallas office.

UNITED KINGDOM

The International Valuation Standards Council has recruited five high level secondments to support its strategy and future growth. Nick Talbot, a Director at the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors will take the position of Interim CEO. Ken Creighton takes the position of Strategy Advisor and will aid Nick Talbot in supporting the work of the IVSC Trustees. Peter Melvin, based in New York City, will work on projects relating to financial instruments. Alexander Aronsohn will support the IVSC’s Standards Board in the area of real estate valuation. He is currently an associate director in the professional groups and forums team of RICS, working in the Valuation Practice Groups. Adam Smith will work in the USA in the area of business valuations, helping to structure the IVSC’s approach to standards and guidance.

VIRGINIA

Nicolas Schuck has been promoted to controller and chief accounting officer at Huntington Ingalls Industries, effectively immediately. Schuck joined HII in January 2012 as corporate assistant controller and has recently worked as assistant controller at HII's Newport News Shipbuilding division. He has more than 18 years of finance and accounting experience at companies including ManTech International Corp., PricewaterhouseCoopers and Arthur Andersen. He attended the National Institute of Economics and Accounting in Paris; he holds a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in accounting and finance and is a certified public accountant.

WASHINGTON, D.C.

Joe Huddleston has joined Ernst & Young LLP as an executive director in the firm’s national indirect tax group. … Joseph Calianno has joined BDO USA as a tax partner and International Technical Tax Practice Leader in the National Tax Office and is located in Washington D.C.
