Formerly, Phillips was the Director of the School of Accountancy at Louisiana Tech University where he also served as the KPMG Endowed Professor. Brook Harvey was named the President Elect. Richard Leach has been named director and senior advisor in CohnReznick LLP’s Government Services practice. Leach enhances the Firm’s capabilities in providing government audit, accounting, and compliance services to U.S. Department of Defense and key Civilian Agencies. Leach joined CohnReznick from the U.S. Navy, where he served as the Auditor General for 14 years and was a member of the Navy Senior Executive Service for more than 25 years. The new appointments include: Walter Brasch, partner and Chief Business Development Officer. Gigi Eggers has been appointed to principal. Eggers has more than 25 years of public and private accounting experience with 20 years of expertise in the affordable housing industry. She held two director positions during her eight years at Enterprise Community Investment where she initially headed up the Tax & Regional Accounting department responsible for reviewing over 1,700 audits and tax returns, and closed out her time as the head of Technical and Accounting Review serving as a resource for the entire company. Carrie Gardi, is the new director of marketing. Gardi brings more than 20 years of marketing and strategic communications experience to O’Connor Davies with proven success in driving business at top-tier professional and financial services firms. She previously served as Director of Industries Marketing at KPMG. The AICPA has awarded five students who are transitioning from community colleges to four-year universities with the inaugural AICPA Foundation Two Year Transfer Scholarship. These students have earned an associate’s degree in business, accounting, finance or economics with a declared intent to major in accounting at a four-year college or university and will receive $1,000 towards their tuition for the 2014-2015 school year. The awards are funded by the AICPA Foundation. The 2014-15 AICPA Foundation Two-Year Transfer Scholarship recipients are: Lisa Dimery, University of Colorado Denver; Kaitlyn Fox, University of Alabama at Birmingham; Gabriel Rollano, University of South Florida; Simon Valdez, University of Texas at San Antonio and Matthew Warr, University of Wyoming. The Trustees of the IFRS Foundation, responsible for the governance and oversight of the International Accounting Standards Board, appointed fifteen new members of the IFRS Advisory Council. The Advisory Council is the formal advisory body to the Trustees and the IASB. It advises the IFRS Foundation on its strategic direction, technical work plan and priorities.
