COLORADO

Richey, May & Co. LLP promoted Chris Hambor to senior tax manager. 

FLORIDA

Skip Shearman moved up the ranks at Top 100 Firm Kaufman, Rossin & Co., Miami, from manager of risk advisory services to director. In addition, Maria Toledo was promoted from supervisor to manager, and Wolfgang Pinther from supervisor to manager. The firm added to its New York hedge fund tax department team with the addition of Stephen Ng, CPA, as a senior tax manager. 

GEORGIA

Porter Keadle Moore LLC, Atlanta, promoted several staff members: Greg Gillins and Jamie Hood have been promoted to senior manager to the Audit Department, and Abriel Davis to manager in the Tax Division, while Lauryn Barnett and Cayci Moon were promoted to senior in the Audit Department. LOUISIANA

The Louisiana CPA Society elected its new Board of Directors for 2012-2013: Dr. Shawn Mauldin was named president; Lisa Traina president-elect; and Dr. Thomas Phillips treasurer; while Ralph Bender, Mark LaCour and Steven Toups will serve the second year of his current, two-year term as a member at large. In addition, Brook Harvey, Kerry Nichols and Gina Ruttley were elected to two-year terms as members-at-large, and Thomas Cotton will serve as immediate past president.

NEW JERSEY

Financial Executives International, Florham Park, elected a new group of executive officers for 2012-2013: Marsha Hunt, vice president and corporate controller of Cummins Inc., will serve as national board chair; Taylor Hawes, general manager of corporate finance and services for Microsoft Corp., will serve as the national vice chair; David Nunes, senior vice president of finance for Minor League Baseball, will continue as treasurer; and Robert Shultz, recently retired from Hewlett-Packard Co., will continue as secretary.

NORTH CAROLINA

Jenna Staton, manager of tax planning and preparation services at Skoda Minotti, received her IRS Enrolled Agent credentials. …A few members of Brady Ware consulting firm recently passed a section of the CPA Exam: Sharon Howard, a member of the firm’s Dayton, Ohio office, passed the business environment and concepts section; Kristin Maloney, also from the Dayton office, passed the audit and attestation section; and Troy Miley, a member of the firm’s Richmond, Ind., office, passed the financial accounting and reporting section of the exam.

TENNESSEE

TEXAS

Andrew Moore and Rachel Werner were promoted to audit manager at Weinstein Spira & Co. PC. …Angelia Moss has joined Sanford, Baumeister & Frazier LLP as an audit partner. Moss previously worked at the regional accounting firm Travis Wolff where she led the Audit Department for the firm and served on the board. 

WASHINGTON D.C.

The Securities and Exchange Commission appointed Paula Drake to serve as chief counsel, chief compliance, and ethics officer for the Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations. Drake will take on her new role on August 6, and will manage a staff of eight attorneys. She will be responsible for organizing the efforts of legal advisers in the SEC’s eleven regional offices. Prior to her new role Drake worked for the investment management firm, Oechsle International Advisors LLC where she held the title of general counsel and chief operating officer.
