Melanie Shores, a supervisor at Barfield, Murphy, Shank & Smith, Birmingham, has graduated from the inaugural Alabama Society of CPAs Leadership Academy, a year-long program designed to build management and leadership skills through training and projects. Separately, senior accountant Jeremy Viers has been elected vice president of the Birmingham Young CPAs, a chapter of the ASCPA, while staff accountant Kate Fluker has been elected Christmas Party chair.

Jack O'Meara has rejoined KPMG LLP, as a managing director in the economic and valuation services practice in the San Francisco office.
