PKF Pacific Hawaii Buys Grant Thornton’s Hawaii Practice

PKF Pacific Hawaii LLP has acquired Grant Thornton LLP’s Honolulu office.

PKF Pacific Hawaii, a member firm of PKF North America and PKF International, will open its doors for business on Monday, August 9. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The acquisition re-establishes PKF’s presence in the Hawaii marketplace. “Our new firm shares Grant Thornton’s focus on providing exceptional client service in the middle market segment, but has deeper expertise in industries here in Hawaii, including a very strong hospitality practice.” said PKF Pacific Hawaii managing partner Patrick Oki in a statement. “Additionally, our hybrid model of being locally owned and having national and international resources will allow us to continue to provide distinctive service to our clients in Hawaii and abroad.”

PKF Pacific Hawaii has assumed Grant Thornton’s office space and hired Grant Thornton’s employees in Hawaii. As a result of the acquisition, the partners and employees of PKF Pacific Hawaii will continue to provide audit, tax and advisory services to individuals, businesses and organizations in the state of Hawaii.

PKF has been building its network of accounting firms across North America and globally. PKF North America is an association of 87 independently owned public accounting firms that share educational, client service, technical and marketing resources and expertise. PKF International is a network of legally independent member firms with over 245 member and correspondent firms located in more than 440 offices in around 125 countries throughout the world.

“PKF International is delighted to welcome PKF Pacific Hawaii as a member firm,” said PKF North America president and CEO Terry Snyder in a statement. “We feel that our presence in the Hawaii market completes our strategy for both our North American strategy and fits into our international focus. We are confident that PKF Pacific Hawaii will make a huge contribution by adding depth and experience to the PKF North America and PKF International network.”
