Platform merges in Riibner and Associates

Platform Accounting Group, based in Holladay, Utah, has added Riibner and Associates, based in Kensington, Maryland, in the latest of a string of M&A deals.

As part of the deal, Riibner and Associates will join Platform's Compass U.S. Accountants and Advisors, which already has offices in Annapolis, Salisbury and Bethesda, Maryland.

Riibner offers tax and accounting services to small businesses and individuals, and has two partners and two associates. Compass U.S. has four offices with four partners/directors and 31 associates. Platform has 1,000 employees across nearly 15 states. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"Our platform is designed to amplify that impact by enhancing the high-touch, personalized experience Riibner delivers to its clients. Platform has been growing rapidly in recent years. In February 2024, it received an $85 million funding round led by Cynosure Group of Salt Lake City. Last month, it added two California firms: Wayne Long & Co. in Bakersfield and Seghettii Waxler in Santa Cruz, as well as Watters and Associates in Roseburg, Oregon. Last August, it added AWG Wine Advisors, formerly known as Allen Wine Group, based in Santa Rosa, California. Last July, the private equity-funded firm added Madison Street Advisors, formerly known as McCormick Tax Group, in Chicago. Last February, it added Keystone Advisor Group, formerly known as Heckman & Laudeman, in Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania. Last January, Platform added AKM Advisors in New York. In December 2024, it added Midwest Advisors, formerly known as Philip+Rae & Associates, in Naperville, Illinois, and Crossroads Advisors, formerly Peachin Schwartz + Weingardt, in Indianapolis. In 2023, the firm acquired and rebranded several firms in California, including Alpert & King and R.O.A.D in Thousand Oaks, JHS in Danville and Anaheim, and Hamilton & Co. in Modesto.
