Private Sector Adds 32,000 Jobs in April

Private sector jobs increased by some 32,000, accordingto the monthly employment report compiled by payroll processor ADP and economicconsultancy Macroeconomic Advisors.

Economists had projected that ADP would report an Apriljob rise of 20,000. The estimated change in employment from February to March2010 was revised upwards, from a decline of 23,000 to an increase of 19,000.

Large businesses with 500 or more employees added 14,000jobs in April, while midsized companies posted employment gains of 17,000positions. Small businesses with fewer than 50 workers boosted their payrollsby 1,000.

Service-sector jobs added 50,000 last month - the thirdconsecutive monthly increase - while factory jobs increased by 29,000.Employment in the goods-producing sector declined 18,000 during April.

The April unemployment rate is projected to remain at 9.7percent.
