PwC, Deloitte top Vault's best firms list

Online career resource Vault.com announced its ranking of the best accounting firms to work for, with Big Four firms PwC, Deloitte and KPMG topping the list.

Using the feedback of 8,200 accounting professionals at all levels of leadership, the 2020 Vault Accounting 50 determined its ranking using a "weighted formula that reflects the issues accounting professionals care most about, combining quality of life rankings (such as culture, satisfaction, work/life balance, and compensation) with overall prestige," according to the site.

Vault broke down its formula further by explaining how firm rankings are determined by individual work factors. For example, firm prestige is worth 35 percent in ranking a firm, while factors such as firm culture (25 percent), compensation (10 percent) and work-life balance (10 percent) also add up.

Of the Big Four firms, PwC, Deloitte, and KPMG topped the list by placing first through third, respectively. Notably, fellow Big Four firm EY placed at No. 27 out of 50.

The top 10 firms of the 2020 Vault Accounting 50 are:

  1. PwC
  2. Deloitte
  3. KPMG
  4. Grant Thornton
  5. BDO USA
