R T Higgins Joins Eide Bailly

Eide Bailly has merged in R T Higgins & Associates, expanding the firm’s presence in Colorado and with oil and gas industry clients.

As part of the deal, which took effect on Aug. 1, Richard T. Higgins will join Eide Bailly as a partner and bring six of his staff members with him. They will be located in Denver and Golden, Colo. The union brings Eide Bailly’s total staff to nearly 1,200, including 168 partners.

Eide Bailly ranked 23rd on Accounting Today’s list of the Top 100 Firms of 2010, and now has approximately $152 in million in annual revenue. R T Higgins earns about $1 million in annual revenue.

“We continue to look for opportunities to grow our practice,” said James Lyons, partner-in-charge of Eide Bailly’s Colorado practice. “R T Higgins & Associates, P.C. will enable us to expand our Colorado services in the oil & gas industry, and with trusts and high net worth individuals.”

The six staff members joining the firm include tax managers Paul Tirone and Jessica Borger, tax senior associate Adam Vonachen, tax associates Simon Harriet and Jared Obstfeld, and administrative assistant Amy Beatty.

Higgins believes this is a good move for both his practice and his clients. “By being a part of a larger firm, we will have access to its infrastructure: leading technology, quality professional education, strong processes and a network of talented specialists,” he said in a statement. “Our clients will continue to receive personal service, but they will have access to a talented pool of experienced professionals across the firm. We will be able to meet more of our clients’ needs and broaden our business relationships.”

Higgins has more than 30 years of experience in accounting and tax services across various industries. He specializes in tax planning and compliance for oil and gas entities and high net worth individuals.  He has received the Certificate of Educational Achievement for tax planning and advising for closely held businesses from the American Institute of CPAs. He also has expertise in international tax matters and has served clients in Canada, the Netherlands, Germany and Australia.
