Reznick Taps New COO

Accounting firm Reznick Group has named a new chief operating officer, appointing A. Mitchell Poole Jr. to the post.

Poole comes from Tidwell DeWitt, a Southeast regional accounting firm that Reznick has just acquired (see Reznick to Acquire Tidwell DeWitt). The merger expands Reznick's Atlanta office and establishes a new office for the firm in Birmingham, Ala.

Reznick created the new national COO position to cope with the past three years of rapid growth. Birmingham is Reznick's fifth new office since 2004, and its tenth office nationwide.

Poole will be responsible for designing, implementing, operating and improving systems to meet the firm's goals. The heads of Reznick's marketing, business development, information technology, finance, human resources and administration departments will report to him, and he in turn will report to CEO Kenneth E. Baggett. For his part, Baggett will focus on long-term planning, vision and strategic development.

Poole founded Tidwell DeWitt's Atlanta office in 2004 and served as the firm's COO. He has previously overseen financials at truck-leasing and vehicle delivery companies, as well as served as a partner in the Atlanta office of Arthur Andersen.
