Wolters Kluwer Tax & Accounting said Monday that Mike Sabbatis will step down as president and chief executive of the CCH business unit, making way for Karen Abramson, who will fill the role in September.
Most recently Abramson served as CEO and president of Wolters Kluwer Health, Medical Research and has been with the company since 2000.
Sabbatis had been CCH CEO since 2007 and is slated to remain in the role “through a transition period,” according to a Wolters Kluwer announcement.
In a statement, Wolters Kluwer Tax & Accounting CEO Kevin Robert commended Sabbatis for his efforts over the past several years and wished him great continued success.
“As a result of Mike’s leadership, and our strong teams of leaders and employees, CCH is well positioned to serve our customers better than ever,” said Robert. “With our organization, vision and unique ability to help professionals advance their business, we’re ready to take CCH and our customers to the next level of success.”
Robert also welcomed Abramson to CCH and noted, “Throughout her career in serving professionals—including tax and accounting professionals—Karen has been very successful in partnering with customers and creating information and software solutions that help people do their best work. At our core, that’s what CCH is all about.”
Prior to joining Wolters Kluwer Health in 2006, Abramson served as vice president and general manager of CT Corsearch, a division of Wolters Kluwer Corporate Legal Services. Before her tenure at Wolters Kluwer, Abramson was vice president of operations at MemberWorks Inc. and held various leadership positions with the Thomson Corporation including vice president of production services and director of quality management at the Thomson Tax & Accounting and Research Institute of America divisions.
