Sage Targets Peachtree to Family-Owned Businesses

Sage Software has launched a program to put its Peachtree accounting program in more family-owned businesses by giving away free copies and support.

The company said it would provide free copies of Peachtree by Sage Complete Accounting 2009 and six months of free customer support to up to 1,500 qualifying businesses to help them get through challenging economic times.

Family Business Institute president Wayne Rivers, pointed out that family and closely held businesses represent 99 percent of all employers in the U.S. and provide jobs for almost two out of every three Americans, accounting for 64 percent of the nation's gross domestic product. "Family business is big business," he said in a statement.

To qualify, the owner and one family member must be employed by the company. The business must be U.S.-based and must be using a manual system or Microsoft Excel to handle their accounting. Current and past Peachtree customers are not eligible for the offer. The offer runs through Sept. 30, 2008. For more information, visit www.peachtreecares.com.
