SEC Names Accounting Fellows

The Securities and Exchange Commission's Office of the Chief Accountant has selected two professional accounting fellows for two-year terms beginning in June 2005.

The OCA has named Timothy S. Kviz, a senior manager in PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP's Professional, Technical, Risk & Quality Group, based in Florham Park, N.J., and Joseph B. Ucuzoglu, a senior manager in Deloitte & Touche LLP's Los Angeles practice office.

The newly selected professional accounting fellows will be involved in the study and development of rule proposals under federal securities laws, liaison with the professional accounting and auditing standards-setting bodies, and consulting with registrants on accounting and reporting matters.

"This is an exciting time to join the Securities and Exchange Commission and, in particular, the Office of the Chief Accountant," said SEC chief accountant Donald T. Nicolaisen, chief accountant. "The candidates went through a highly competitive process, and the quality of the individuals who applied for these positions speaks volumes about the importance of our role as the investors' advocate. Tim and Joe are two highly skilled and talented individuals, and their experiences and knowledge will be invaluable."
